A Regal Landmark Where Your Love Reigns
Just north of Madison Square Park in New York City sits the Prince George Ballroom, a historic wedding venue recognized by its Neo-Renaissance embellishments. This classic building has been a fundamental piece of the city landscape for over a century and remains an integral landmark to this day. The venue boasts a spacious ballroom, an elegant tea room, and a contemporary gallery space. The Prince George Hotel was designed by Howard Greenley and constructed in 1904. This iconic property was notorious for its grand and traditional architecture reminiscent of France in the 1800s. This attracted many working-class visitors and even appealed to the popular playwright, Eugene O鈥橬eill. Sadly, due to a drop in tourism, the hotel became just another forgotten monument. In the 1980s, the hotel functioned as a shelter for homeless families, providing cover to over 1,600 people before closing its doors in 1989. Seven years later, Breaking Ground acquired the building and with the help of other non-profit groups, they restored the ballroom to its original grandeur. This distinctive ballroom is now registered with the National Register of Historic Places. This hotel now provides permanent supportive housing to those in need while utilizing the ballroom as a magnificent event space. The hotel remains true to its roots by donating all proceeds from celebrations held here to Breaking Ground鈥檚 accommodation development project and outreach programs. Following a recent restoration, the ballroom now features eco-friendly lighting that illuminates the detailed ceilings and bold sculptural supports. The ballroom provides a dynamic event space that each couple can style to their own taste. Over the years, the main ballroom has hosted events for Vogue, NYFW, and many more. This adaptable space can accommodate intimate ceremonies, elaborate receptions, and significant social events. The Prince George Ballroom can seat up to 300 guests, while the Tea Room accommodates an intimate group of 55 friends and family members. To ensure that every couple receives their dream wedding, a list of trusted vendors is provided which includes options for photographers, planners, and caterers. This extravagant venue features a hard-wood dance floor and a baby grand piano as well as gold Chiavari chairs to lend a sophisticated setting to every event.
