It was such a thrill to participate in the print and album competition at WPPI this year.
I was able to sit in the rooms where prints and albums where being judged and I can tell you what an educational experience it has been. The judges for all the categories are photographers considered as the best in the country (and some around the world) and it is such a learning experience to sit in the same room and hear what they have to say when they see a print or an album. Some rooms where more 鈥渢alkative鈥 than others, but in general it was interesting to hear what they had to say about participants work.
When my albums or prints were up my hands were sweating and my heart was pumping. It almost felt like the moment one feels just before defending a dissertation. On one hand I wanted to hear what the judges had to say but on the other I was scared to death!!
At the end I think I did pretty well for being the first time submitting to these two compentitions.

Roberto Falck of Brooklyn, NY, has received special honors in the WEDDING & PORTRAIT
PHOTOGRAPHERS INTERNATIONAL (WPPI) 2009 Awards of Excellence 16脳20 Print Competition.
Designed to recognize outstanding photographers, the judging was held in Las Vegas, NV on February 14 and 15, 2009.
鈥淪lanted Night鈥 received an Accolade of Excellence in the Bride and Groom Together category.
鈥淒iamond Bride鈥 received an Accolade of Excellence in the Bride or Groom Alone category.
鈥淯nderwater Ballerina鈥, 鈥淐abaret鈥 & 鈥淔luid Desire鈥 each received an Accolade of Excellence in the Individual category.
Falck competed against an international field of photographers to win such honors.
The Awards of Excellence 16脳20 Print Competition awards are presented each year at the largest trade show, educational platform and convention in the United States for professional photographers. The 2009 competition included 2717 prints in 19 different categories submitted by photographers from all
over the world.
