This is an image that is part of the series called “Clay and Ash”;聽 a project I worked on last year while traveling through Papua New Guinea.聽 My intention was not to document the tribe but to create something new based on some of their traditions.
I explored the bird’s-eye view, the traditional body paint, and geometric shapes.聽 The series is called “Clay and Ash”聽 because that’s what the tribe’s members use to paint their bodies.
I’m also happy to share that Professional Photographer Magazine used this image for their May 2016 cover.
