Begin Your Future Surrounded By History
The Olde Mill Inn & Grain House Restaurant is a historic venue catering to wedding in Basking Ridge, NJ. The inn is set on 10 acres of charming country estate, offering glorious natural surroundings and an expanse of peaceful scenery. Outdoor gazebos provide a stunning space for ceremonies and wedding photos, while the chef’s cuisine is sure to delight the most discerning palates. This property dates back to the 18th century, when the original gristmill and barn were originally built by miller Samuel Lewis. Throughout the Revolutionary War, the mill was used to store supplies such as flour and meal that were passed along to the encampments at nearby Jockey Hollow. Thus, the barn earned its name ‘The Grain House’. The property was then purchased by reputable restauranter William Childs in 1929, who converted the barn into the inn it is today. During this process, Childs forwent a total renovation and chose to restore the buildings to their early splendor. Today, the venue retains many of its original features, offering couples the charm and authenticity of genuine architecture. This site is also located close to several historic landmarks, such as Washington’s Headquarters & Ford Mansion, and Jockey Hollow & Wick Farm. The venue offers a choice of event spaces for both small celebrations and larger, more grandiose affairs. The Grand Washington Ballroom in the Inn can accommodate up to 240 guests. Decorated with rich draped curtains and elegant chandeliers, this room evokes a luxurious and tasteful air. Guests can walk through to the outside courtyard to enjoy a view of the manicured gardens. For more intimate gatherings, couples may prefer to hold their reception in the Grain House. With a rustic yet elegant decor, this site boasts a choice of three event rooms, each with their own unique features. Each space offers a passage outside, with private decking, terraces, and atriums, giving them the chance to take in the bountiful beauty of the gardens. This site provides accommodation for wedding couples and their guests, with a range of comfortable rooms and sumptuous suites to relax in. This venue also offers PURE rooms to ensure that visitors who may have allergies are as comfortable as possible. Catering for the event will be taken care of by the in-house culinary team, led by celebrated Executive Chef John Benjamin. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Benjamin can apply his talents to an extensive range of cuisines and styles. Couples may avail of items such as linens, napkins, china, and glassware from the venue. To ensure that the day runs as smoothly as possible, this venue can also provide the services of a Maitre D to accommodate the needs of the newlyweds.
