Weddings Among Blooms and Lavish Interiors
A meticulously restored estate in Ridgefield, CT, the Lounsbury House is a wedding venue boasting historic authenticity. Grand without being flamboyant and intricate without being garish, this mansion breathes life into history. The Ridgefield community is proud of its historic center, and the staff loves seeing it transformed into a space for couples to celebrate their commitment. This national historic site was built in 1896 by Phineas C. Lounsbury, a former Connecticut governor. In 1953 it was adopted by the community and now operates as a non-profit. A board of directors and small staff now work tirelessly to maintain this estate for their community鈥檚 benefit. All the original details have been preserved, thanks to the Lounsbury House Women’s Committee, volunteers, and the board of directors. Host up to 200 guests, or have a small, relaxed brunch in the gardens. White wainscoting adorns the rooms throughout the mansion, while floral wallpaper and neutral colored walls create a traditional look. Chandeliers glitter from the ceiling and delicately designed furniture grace the rooms. The furnishings and decor of this mansion are restored to their original grandeur, while also boasting an understated look with washes of neutral colors. Outside, their gardens are flawlessly landscaped, for a romantic ceremony setting. Nestled in the manicured landscape are a gazebo, pergola, and fountain for doses of whimsy. Cocktail hour can be held on the charming wrap-around porch and Grecian columns add a stately, upscale touch to the facade. The estate鈥檚 event specialists can provide guidance throughout the planning process, coordinating with a couple鈥檚 chosen caterer, florist, DJ, and all the rest. For the wedding party, they have multiple get-ready rooms to relax and prepare in. Bridal showers can also be hosted on the historic grounds. Your ceremony may take place inside or out, giving you a number of options to create your ideal day. Interior rooms include the grand foyer, a conference room, and a meeting room, all bursting with refinement and romance. Any room can be rented and used individually to suit your needs. The staff at Lounsbury House can also personalize their service to help couples with specific wedding-day visions.
